Our History

Founded in 1998, Cotonou International School has a rich and storied history that spans 25 years. Our journey began with a vision to provide exceptional education that transcends the boundaries of time and place. Over the years, we have evolved into a distinguished institution known for academic excellence, character development, and a commitment to fostering future leaders.

Cotonou International School is a bilingual school that runs the programme of the National Curriculum of Education of Nigeria and the New National Education Program of Republic of Benin. We are proud to say that we are the only school that runs a full bilingual programme and recognized by the Ministry of Education of both countries.

Cotonou International School is proud to be accredited by Ministry of Education, Republic of Benin in the the year 1998 with registration no: Annee 1998 No 0069/MENRS/CAB/DC/DAPS/SP as well as Ministry of Education, Nigeria. This accreditation is a testament to our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of educational quality, excellence, and continuous improvement. Do I need to be bilingual to be in CIS?

No, as long as you understand either French or English, you will be admitted into CIS. With our committment and exceptional Teachers, you will be bilingual in no time.

Where is Cotonou International school located?

We have our different branches at PK-10, Midombo and Jericho, all in Cotonou. Hopefully in the nearest future we will expand our horizon. You visit our Contact page for better direction with the aid of our google map.

What extracurricular activities are available for students

We have diverse activities in sports and also skill acquisition such as: programming, baking, make-up, music training, engineering, mathematics drilling and many more

CIS believes in Integrity, discipline, innovation and respect from students,parents and staff

Is there Parent Teacher Association(PTA)

Yes, we have a functioning Parent Teacher Association. We conduct one for each Term to be able to get feedback from parent and teachers so that we can apply all necessary action to grow and meet our desired educational goals and standard.

What measure is taken to ensure safety of Students

We have trained security personnel on campus who monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Our school nurse is available to provide medical assistance and maintain the health and well-being of our students.
We have anti-bullying programs and resources in place to promote a culture of respect and kindness among students.

Is there a Library and Media center for students?

Yes, CIS is proud to have a dedicated library and media center that is available to all students. Our library is a vibrant hub of learning and resources, designed to support students in their academic endeavors
